The New Engineering building was built in Konkuk University (KU) during summer vacation. To build this building, KU spend 40 billion won, and it occupies about 25000 square meters. It is located in southern land of the Engineering building. Taeyoung and isu construction company had built this building from November, 2014 to August, 2016. The New Engineering building is the largest building in KU except for the KU hospital. This building contains some facilities which have not only high energy effectiveness but eco-friendly green energy. To improve the environment of existing engineering lab, most labs are transferred to the New Engineering building. The new building was designated with priority given to the lab. Therefore, there are a lot of labs in this building. It contains 127 labs of education which are for the College of Information & Communications and the College of Engineering, 29 labs which are for all colleges, two large lecture rooms, fourteen seminar rooms, and many amenities. Min Sang-gi, the twentieth KU president said, “The New Engineering building will be the symbol of KU to develop to the global university.”
Recently, there are seven questions about PRIME project in KU hompage’s Q&A (Question and Answer). Most of these questions are about the effect of PRIME project to their major. KU Student Union also wrote two questions which contain some details about PRIME project. Above these, you can easily search PRIME project in KU by just accessing the KU homepage. (There are many banners about PRIME project) Many labs which are for the College of Information & Communication are transferred to the New Engineering building, and Engineering building from New Millennium Hall. For the College of Animal Bioscience & Technology students, sunggwan which is dormitory made for mentioned students would be demolished. Therefore the students who want to move in to the dormitory should register by KU:L House. Additional department merging will not occur. There are two new scholarships which are related with PRIME project ; PRIME superb grade scholarship, and PRIME superb society of humanity scholarship. About 250 students will receive 650 million wons by these scholarships.
On November 20, 2015, student union election was held in Konkuk University (KU) Glocal Campus but declared invalid because the turnout didn’t exceed 50 percent. On the following March, Kim won the by-election by “Am hang uh sa” student union. 53.5 percent of turnout (Counting seniors as graduate-to-be and only participants as the quorum) came out. However, an objection was raised that the by-election should have involved semester seven’s enroller from seniors because it was held in March. If they count semester seven’s enroller as valid voter, the turnout becomes 46.38 percent and the result gets invalid again. Therefore, Central Election Management Commission (CEMC) voted and decided to revote student union election. Kim, who felt unfair of this result, denied the revote and claimed that it was an election custom to count seniors as graduate-to-be and only participants as the quorum. However, CEMC notified disqualification to Kim and Glocal Central Committee members elected Cha Jun-hun (College of International Business) as the committee chairman. Consequently, Kim sued about the election issue and KU Seoul Campus “All Student Representative Meeting” voted to support Kim by making a proclamation.
